Changelog

What’s new in icanwrite.

Opus 5.5, import-export, and 5 checks at once

  • Latest models: Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5, GPT 6 Sol, GPT 6 Luna, and GLM 5.3
  • Easy import from EPUB or DOCX — the app can split one doc into separate files automatically
  • Smart export — pick the format, the files, and the theme
  • You can now run up to 5 checks on your chapter simultaneously
  • File cards got colors
  • Files open much faster thanks to internal optimization
  • Dark mode — with an option to keep your editor always light
  • You can now reorder folders with drag and drop
  • New guides: how to import from Scrivener and how to sync your work between the two apps

New cloud model lineup, hotkeys, and Qwen 3.5

  • Model list updated and optimized (with ChatGPT 5.6 Sona and Terra, Gemini Flash 3.8, GLM 5.2, Kimi K3 and more)
  • High effort has been removed; instead, all the models have been optimized for maximum intelligence
  • Added estimated time for the running AI check
  • Hotkeys! In the editor, hold command to see them. My favorite: command-. to toggle distraction-free Zen Mode
  • Added Qwen 3.5 as a local model — performed well on MacBook Air M4, can be used in chat for word / phrase exploration as a "smarter thesaurus"
  • Improved chat shortcuts UI, updated default shortcuts for new users
  • Fixed: language for spellchecker is saved between sessions

Gemini Flash 3.7 and improved checks for longer files

  • Added Gemini Flash 3.7 (now the app's default recommendation)
  • Added Grok 4.6
  • Added the ability to change the size of the editor with Text Zoom (from the menu in the top right corner)
  • Changed: folders view — the number of files in each folder is represented by a stack of paper
  • Changed: check with AI — long docs (more than 10,000-16,000 characters) are automatically split into parts for AI; this will allow the app to process them better
  • Changed: check with AI — you can now run new checks even when comments are pending (as long as there aren't too many)
